ETHC was established in 1977 on East Tamaki Road in Manukau City, Auckland. Dr Kantilal Patel ‘s concept was basic but revolutionary because it put the patient, not the healthcare provider, at the centre of the delivery model.
The ETHC Group started as a single doctor and one receptionist practice in 1968 in Otara. DrPatel took over the solo general practice in 1977.
The practice has grown over the years, into a large team that has the fantastic opportunity to serve the wider community with outstanding healthcare services. The success of our clinics has been driven by the strength of our team and the quality of services we provide to our patients. We do this by ensuring that our values are part of our daily practice. It is clear that we have a team, within our practices like none other in this country. As we are leaders in community care and are very proud of the fact that we are able to work together so successfully in the dynamic environment of primary healthcare.
East Tamaki Healthcare (ETHC) is a group of medical practices which has now developed into a network of 12 Medical Practices, with over 45 doctors caring for 90,000 registered patients and employing over 150 staff.
New practice development has been typical of East Tamaki Healthcare’s progress over the past 20 years. Chairman and CEO, Dr Patel, recognized the need to invest back into the community in order to continuously improve the level of service to patients. Since 1990, ETHC has been unique to the General Practice and Primary Care environment. Our shareholders, directors and doctors had a vision to invest back into Primary Care by establishing centers providing access to patients, developing management and support infrastructures to assist clinicians in top quality medicine. ETHC is committed to remain focused on the communities that it operates in.
The recent years have seen the development of Clinical Management, where now ETHC employ over 25 people that includes Public Health Physicians, nurses, software development and administration staff.
