What is Accreditation?

Every business and industry is operated based upon certain minimum standards – standards that define the quality of services, processes, protocols, records, and facilities among a host of many other things. The standards for each industry have a different definition and are set as benchmarks by the bodies that govern that particular industry. Worldwide, there is a modern trend to adhere to the ISO 9000 standards which are defined as the international benchmark of quality for a variety of different industries. In terms of the Medical field within New Zealand, these benchmarks are quite stringent and are defined and regulated by various organizations such as Royal College of General Practitioners, ACC, New Zealand Medical Council and many others.

What is Cornerstone practice Accreditation?

The forerunner among these benchmarking bodies is the Royal College of General Practitioners which has clearly defined the core requirements for any Medical Practice – be it a General Practice or a Hospital. The requirements set aside by the Royal College are equal to or in some cases, greater than the requirements of a number of International bodies. Every medical Practice in the country is assessed for meeting these minimum standards and then awarded a Certificate of Compliance. This process of assessment is known as Accreditation and the Certificate awarded to the Medical Practices is known as Cornerstone Accreditation Certificate.

What is ACC accreditation?

ACC has a system for Accident and medical (A&M) clinics designed to foster quality service provision and to provide a purchase framework more adequately suited to A&M type work than the current regulations. These standards set out minimum levels of clinic staffing, requirements for medical equipment available on-site, facility requirements, and other related areas.
