GP Registrar Training Programme

ETHC is committed to workforce development; this is being achieved through developing learning environments.

A key to ETHC’s ongoing success is taking a systems approach. This means that all personnel clinical and non-clinical contribute to our shared learning.

GP Registrar Training Program
A Registrar is a qualified doctor with several years’ experience undertaking advanced training in the vocational scope of General Practice. We work closely with the Royal New Zealand College of GPs in supervising our Registrars.

We support and mentor both GPEP1 & GPEP2 Registrars. (See http://www.rnzcgp.org.nz/)
Currently we have four GP Registrar Teaching Accredited Practices, and another one (Bairds Road Clinic) going through the accreditation process.

All teaching/mentoring/supervising activities within ETHC come under the responsibility of Dr Richard Hulme. All communications need to be directed to him.

GP Registrar Accredited Teaching Practices and GP Teachers are:

Airport Oaks Clinic, Mangere – Dr Sesha Prasad. Sesha is our most senior teacher. He has a special interest in undergraduate medical teaching and pediatrics.

Sylvia Park Clinic – Dr Vivek Patel – Vivek has a special interest and skills in minor surgery.

Dannemora Clinic – Dr Janan Mansour – Janan is a generalist.

Browns Road Clinic – Dr Shubra Kaul – Shubra in a generalist however interested in General medicine, and quality improvement.

Bairds Road Clinic – Dr Oruba Khalil – Oruba has a special interest in women’s health, and occupational health.

The GPEP1Registrars are required to complete 2 x 21 week attachments to designated clinics. At ETHC we try to accommodate this within our own network; however we are dictated by the RNZCGP who allocate the registrars.
The Registrars fully participate in our in-house CME and Peer Review activities including supervising/mentoring DiT (Doctors in Training – students)
